Summary

When Elon Musk and Grimes announced X Æ A-12 as the name for their newborn, social media, and the world, went into a frenzy. But, in all reality, Musk and Grimes did what many new parents are doing: creating a unique space, place, and "brand" for their new baby and along the way, redefining what it means to have a "name," with many in the public talking about why—and how—certain names are chosen.

In a conversational tone that sounds like you are sitting with your best friends sharing a fresh pot of tea, The Amazing Baby Name Book captures, with lyrical and warm wit, a wide-range of known, and not-so-well-known, yet wholly inspiring names that will tickle and delight any soon-to-be parent. The goal: names that stand out, celebrate, honor, charm.. and so much more.

Organized by the alphabet, the book features fun illustrations by noted artist Jen Bricking and with this curated list from the Ephrons, the book will highlight such names and fun facts as:

Aja: For Aja Brown who is the first woman Mayor of Compton, something to be emulated. Her mother named her Aja because she liked the song.

Almond: Best used with a last name with one syllable—Almond Hayes. The Swedish hide an almond in a Christmas pudding and whoever finds it gets good fortune for a year. Or you could spell it the French way, Amandine.

Auden: We have a friend who named her daughter Auden because a friend had given her a book of poetry by W.H. Auden. When she got pregnant and was trying to think of names, the book kept staring back at her from the bookshelf. All the cover said was Auden. She loved the way it looked and sounded, and she grew up with what she thinks is a common name, Christina, and wanted her daughter to have something more poetic and gave her a middle name, too: Auden Grey.

The Amazing Baby Name Book will be a modern-day primer for learning about new (and old) popular names, weaving in anecdotes, fun facts, family history and taking readers on a fun baby name journey as only the Ephrons (mothers, daughters, sisters) can tell it.
