Breaking Down Silos: Innovation in Dual Diagnosis Systems takes a look at the complex issues faced by individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral/mental health issues and their families. The book broadens the focus of dual diagnosis challenges to include not only issues of diagnosis and recognition but also an examination of challenges these individuals often face in navigating various systems, programs, and organizations. The book offers recommendations on building on existing program/system successes as well as needed changes to ensure access to needed services and positive health and life outcomes for individuals with behavioral/mental health needs and IDD.

Dr. Brandi Kelly received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Louisiana State University in 1998 and a post-doctoral master’s degree in clinical psychopharmacology from Alliant University in 2002. She has worked extensively in community and residential-based programs providing support planning, staff training, and behavioral health services to individuals with developmental disabilities and has published research on assessment and treatment of behavioral mental health concerns of individuals with developmental disabilities. Dr. Kelly has worked for more than a decade in various areas of the developmental disability service system and has been involved in program development, implementation, and policy making.
