I got the book on time and I was happy with the order. I needed this book for class and so far it’s been great. The text is spaced large enough, I just hate studying from books written in small print, but this book is written in a good size. It’s spaced well and the sections and headings are pretty clear. It doesn’t look crowded or anything, and there are lots of diagrams and pictures for people who are visual learners. I think that you have to have lots of stuff like pictures for a biology text book anyway.
The book has lots of charts and extra information on each topic, so researching and doing homework is much easier. It also has additional information on scientific methods for data analysis and gathering that are helping me a lot with the more difficult chapters.
One thing I always check when buying a new book is the appendix. No matter how glossy the pages are or how informative the book looks at first glance, never make a purchase without looking at the appendix. The appendix for the 10th edition of Campbell Biology is well done and has just about every topic listed. I hate having to look something up, only to find that the book doesn’t have any info on the subject, but that won’t happen with this book!
It’s a pretty technical book, so I wouldn’t suggest it for casual biologists, but it’s the book recommended by our instructors.
I got the hardcover version and boy is it heavy! But I guess that it will last longer than other versions.
