This is an excellent textbook for an excellent price. This textbook provides informative and up to date information regarding a broad range of drug related topic. Although the reading level is not easy, the information is extremely useful for drug counselors. The information presented regarding psychopharmacology provides an excellent base of preparation for the certification test used in many states. Overall I think it is a great read and VERY educational.

Drugs in American Society: 5 out of 5 stars based on 1 user reviews.

Summary

Goode's Drugs in American Society 7/e is a well-respected, brief investigation of the full range of psychoactive drug use; from legal, medical and prescription use to criminal, recreational use and from casual use to addiction. Objective pro and con accounts on important issues like treatment, education, rehabilitation, and legalization give students a thorough understanding of the topics.

Unlike most books on drugs and drug usage that bogs you down with facts and statical data. Goode shows the reader practical examples from the lives of drug users. He also let you know that this could happen to you. Goode also makes you aware that addiction can stem from an addicted personality or a void in your soul that need to be filled as result of lost of self or grief over a love one.

The new seventh edition continues to provide the most balanced and up-to-date coverage in an accessible, engaging style.
