She is a noted expert in the field, author of a dozen authoritative books including The Volunteer Recruitment Book and By the People: A History of Americans as Volunteers, the national columnist on volunteerism for The NonProfit Times, and publishing editor of e-Volunteerism: The Electronic Journal of the Volunteer Community.
