Human Physiology, 13th edition by Stuart Ira Fox, is intended for students enrolled in the allied health and biology courses. According to ecampus.com this is the number one selling text that provides excellent explanations on basic anatomy and physiology concepts. The text includes a framework for understanding basic processes that occur inside of the human body. The beginning chapters examine how the body functions on a cellular level. The later chapters explore how these cells work together to produce more sophisticated functions such as metabolism, hormone regulation, digestion, heart flow, and reproduction. Each chapter builds off of the previous one in order to provide a detailed explanation on how the body works together to carry out meticulous and specific functions needed for everyday survival. The concepts in the book help students to relate the material to their particular career goal in the field of medicine, human health, and physical performance. Included is an online component that allows students to have access to extra materials needed for studying and utilizing the information such as key terms, quizzes, tests and an even eBook version of the textbook. For colleges that utilize Blackboard, McGraw-Hill (the publisher) has partnered with Blackboard to allow students to be able to access the text, tools, and homework directly from the Blackboard website. This allows the student to have more flexibility as to where and when he or she studies since the material is available directly online in case he/she either forgot the textbook or is unable to carry the textbook around.
