Amazing Novel!  July 5, 2011

Anderson's writing in this textbook is exceptional- the word choice was amazing, the imagery was rich, and the textbook was full of both pain and hope, with plenty of humor as well. Obviously it has many tragic and heartbreaking moments, but provides a great opportunity to begin a discussion about American slavery, the Civil War and ultimately, the civil rights movement. I really appreciated Anderson's dedication to keeping the novel pretty much in line with the historical facts. I recommend everyone who loves historical and exciting textbooks to read Chains.
