He is a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society; a member of the World Archaeological Congress; a Research Associate of the Arctic Institute of North America; and a Research Fellow of the Nunavut Research Institute, the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the Smithsonian Institution. His writings on traditional Inuit subjects have been published in a number of magazines and learned journals. He has presented papers at many international conferences and symposia, and has lectured on the subject at Cambridge University's Scott Polar Institute, the Pitt Rivers Museum Research Centre at Oxford University, UNESCO in Paris and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.
