Summary

Performance systems comprise the equivalent of an organizational spine that, like human spines, require alignment without hyper states of rigidity or flexibility. When performance systems are aligned, they foster optimal conditions for effective and efficient organizational performance. When performance systems are misaligned, they harbor performance risk. Performance risk is a condition fostering potential loss of efficiency and/or effectiveness that diminishes measurable performance outcomes. Performance risk can be identified by assessing the organizational performance system. The Organizational Performance System (OPS) model depicts the theory of performance systems and can be used as an instrument guide for assessing performance risk. This study explores the utility of the OPS theory and model of performance systems in identifying performance risk.
