This textbook brings together theory, lectures and poems about duende - but in a way that feels like real life. Through lectures and poetry Lorca conveys this intense and deeply emotional place that few artists reach. A deep and thought-provoking read. The duende, then, is a power, not a work. It is a struggle, not a thought. A must read for all artist of all type. I've just finished reading "In Search of Duende" and I can't remember enjoying a book this much in a long time. ecampus provided excellent customer service, therefore, I will, without a doubt purchase books from this company in the future.

In Search Of Duende 2E Pa: 5 out of 5 stars based on 1 user reviews.

Summary

An excellent compilation of Lorca’s poetry and prose, emphasizing Lorca’s notion of the duende, the “earth spirit of irrationality and death.”

The notion of “duende”—a demonic earth spirit embodying irrationality, earthiness, and a heightened awareness of death—became a cornerstone of Lorca’s poetics. In Search of Duende gathers Lorca’s writings about the duende and three art forms susceptible to it: dance, music, and the bullfight. A bilingual sampling of Lorca’s poetry is also included, making this an excellent introduction to Lorca’s poetry and prose for American readers.

''Spain’s great poet and playwright is being rediscovered.'' -The New York Times

''One of the greatest poets Spain has ever produced.'' -Times Literary Supplement
