Summary

In our journey to grow as a Christian, the question we often ask is, “What am I supposed to do?” The question we need to be asking is, “What kind of person do I need to become?”

Spoiler: God isn’t hiding the answer. God wants us to know who He is, who we are now, and who He wants us to become in life. He's not waiting for a future version of you to love, but he does have a future version of you in mind. And contrary to a culture that wants decades of change in a matter of weeks, that future version of you takes a lifetime to grow—much like a tree.

In his debut book on spiritual growth, Mason King (Executive Director over Groups and Care at The Village Church Institute) helps you learn how to grow as a Christian by regularly offering up your emotions, attention, and limits to God, which, in turn, makes you more present not only to Him, but to yourself and others in your everyday life. Through practicing simple daily disciplines individually and with others, you can learn to place yourself next to the river of God to flourish for life.
