Supported by psychology, but also taking examples from literature, music, theater, and poetry, Marasco and Shuff get into this topic by means of a clear, sensible language regarding the mourning process. This limited experience is not foreign to anyone, because we must all face this situation at some point in our lives. The idea is to try to understand it, deal with it, and find the solace that we may need to get through it. They have also interviewed both men and women who, having struggled through these circumstances, describe their experiences, uncertainties, and sinking feelings. What we are looking for is to not only live with mourning and overcome it, but to also learn from it, because mourning can teach us something about ourselves.

Ron Marasco is the department chairman in the College of Communication and Fine Arts at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. He has a doctorate from the University of California. He is also the author of Notes to an Actor and Grace Notes and Anvils. Brian Shuff is working as a writer and a playwright. He lives in Mesa, Arizona. He has written and starred in numerous theatrical productions. He is the coauthor, along with Ron Marasco, of Grace Notes and Anvils.
