Author Biography
Dr. David Albin is the Medical Director for the HCSC (Hernia Center of Southern California) and the Pasadena Surgery Center, LLC. He has authored and published numerous medical articles. He graduated from Kasturba Medical School, then went on to attend Buffalo Medical School in New York. Dr. David Albin completed his internship at the Downstate Medical Center in New York. He then moved to California and completed his residency in surgery at King/Drew UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. David Albin believes in the importance of fitness for all around good health. He is an accomplished triathlete, having completed 20 Ironman events: 5 full Ironman and 15 Half Ironman races. He has also run the Boston Marathon.
Co-author Dr. Michael Albin joined the staff of the HCSC as a general surgeon and hernia doctor in 2014. Dr. Michael Albin works alongside his father, David Albin, who founded the specialty hernia practice in 1987. Dr. Michael Albin completed his General Surgery Residency at Hofstra School of Medicine in New York. He graduated from medical school in 2009 earning his M.D. from Penn State College of Medicine.
Dr. Michael Albin volunteers as an emergency responder for the Pasadena Fire Department CERT battalion. Dr. Michael Albin is a volunteer physician on the prestigious Air5 rescue helicopter AS-332L1 Super Puma of the Special Enforcement Bureau – Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, the largest Airbus EMS aircraft in the United States. He is also a member of the Wilderness Medical Society and the Air Medical Physician Association. He focuses on athletics and good health. He was a swimmer and water polo player in high school. He picked up triathlons alongside his father in college. During this time, they scaled Mt. Kilimanjaro. He keeps himself in top physical shape with daily strength and conditioning, and as an active martial artist.
