Uncle Tom's Children was the first textbook from Richard Wright, who would continue on to worldwide fame as the author of numerous works, most notably the acclaimed novel Native Son and his autobiography, Black Boy. These stories detail racial discrimination and oppression in the Deep South during the 1930's. Each story attacks southern racial injustice in a concise and powerful manner. I picked up this textbook by accident and found it surprisingly useful, deep, and intriguing. Recommended!
